My Project
My 5th-grade ELA class is filled with curious, imaginative, and hardworking students who thrive when they are immersed in engaging literature. I want to bring the power of historical fiction into our classroom with a class set of Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis.
This Newbery Medal-winning novel not only tells the captivating story of a young boy's journey during the Great Depression but also fosters critical thinking, empathy, and an appreciation for history.
Through shared reading, my students will explore themes like resilience, family, and hope. The book will serve as a foundation for discussions, creative projects, and cross-curricular learning opportunities.
With your help, we can provide each student with their own copy of Bud, Not Buddy. This will allow them to dive deeply into the text, annotate their thoughts, and fully engage in the joy of reading. Your support will help create an unforgettable literary experience for my students.
