Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is an elementary school located in the South Bronx and we serve an average of 500 students from Pre-K to 5th grade. My students strive to be the best they could while fighting poverty and diversity. They are also starting to learn about computers and the opportunities that can come from this area. Unfortunately, some of our students live in shelters near our school and can not afford to purchase any electronics and they come to school just to enjoy that specific privilege that many of us take for granted.
This year our school is part of a new computer science program, they are learning about coding and want to continue to advance in this technology based world.
We want to make computer science easily available to our future responsible digital citizens. We can already see their minds opening and building interest in this subject. Our job is to continue to guide them on this new adventure and provide them with the resources they need. Our students are hungry to learn and determined to achieve new skills.
My Project
Our students would like to be more a part of the end of the year process, such as the Test Pep video and graduation videos that we show parents during the ceremony. They would love to take ownership in these beautiful creations. They want to open their minds and be more creative in a different way.
We are asking for something new to try.
We are asking for new ways to show our work without pencil and paper. We are asking for a new way to show color without crayons and markers. We are asking to bring new life into a photo and videos.
