Unlocking a Love of Learning: Chromebooks are the Key!
My students need everyday access to Chromebooks in the classroom, in order to access textbook materials, engage in research, and keep up with the ever increasing technological demands of our modern society.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our middle school is an urban school in Stamford, CT. Our students are very diverse and more than 50% of our kids are eligible for free and reduced lunch rates. The Stamford Public Schools have students that speak over 50 different languages and a significant ELL population.
In order to maximize and enhance their learning experience in Social Studies, these scholars need regular access to modern and reliable technology in the classroom.
They must be able to utilize this technology to do research, take assessments, and engage with the online textbook and its resources.
My Project
My Social Studies Scholars require regular access to reliable, modern technology in the classroom in order to sharpen their research skills, access all available resources, and keep up with the demands of our increasingly digital world.
This technology will allow students to access a multitude of resources within their online textbook, allow for appropriate scaffolding within our heterogeneously grouped classes, and give scholars endless opportunity for research.
Not only will these Chromebooks provide my students with access to online resources through their textbook, it will also allow them to use Google Apps as a platform for digital learning both independently, and interactively with their peers. I believe our students need to be prepared for future success in our increasingly technological society, and the responsible use of these tools in the classroom is the first step!
