it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am writing this proposal for my students who participate in our music program. Our elementary school serves a large urban area with a high percentage of students from low-income homes. Our student body is culturally diverse and allows our school community to experience languages and customs from many cultures as we interact daily.
Many of my students do not have the opportunity to explore and experience high-quality music instruction outside of the school setting.
It is exciting to see them grow in their knowledge and excitement of music. Many of our students will continue participating in music at the high school level.
We are requesting four new concert ukuleles for music classroom learning. Learning to play ukuleles provided my students with a great variety of learning opportunities. This includes learning settings that promote hands-on activities, project-based interactive learning, real-world applications, and experimentation. Learning how to play ukuleles is the perfect challenge for my students. This is achieved through individual practice, peer tutoring, solo/ensemble playing, and public performances. We learn practical music skills like note reading, rhythm training, basic chords, and beginning playing techniques. Our collection of ukuleles is getting old, and some of them are worn out. It is time for us to begin replacing some of our ukuleles that are on their last leg.
