My Project

This year we are bringing Forensic Science to our middle school electives! What is really cool about bringing Forensics to our school is that I polled my students at the end of last year about what science elective they wanted to see on campus and they chose forensics. Since they chose, they actually want to be a part of the class and I had to find a good curriculum that would make our first year memorable! The list of supplies requested is actually the listed items that come with a curriculum designed specifically for middle school-aged students. These items will be used throughout the course as we investigate forensic science, its history, applications, and career opportunities.

My students chose forensics to be taught in our school, so I know they will be engaged every step of the way!

I have so many goals for this project! I wanted students to have a choice and voice in their school by deciding what science elective is taught that interests them. I want to give them fun and engaging hands-on labs and mock crime scene events to get their brains firing. And most importantly, I want those students who have no idea what they want to be when they grow up an opportunity to see what differences they can make in science and their community. I want this course to inspire students of all backgrounds and learning levels.
