My Students

My kindergartners have unlimited energy and love learning! Every day we are busy exploring literature, mathematics, the world around us, and each other.

My students' favorite day is Friday.

On this day, we "play" in play-based centers. They enjoy building with Lego bricks, using wooden blocks, and playing in our class kitchen. My students are not just "playing", they are learning! They are learning how to be engineers, problem solve, and how to communicate with each other through speaking and listening.

My Project

Many of my students do not have access to blocks, Lego bricks, or building with tools at home. They spend much of their free time playing electronic games. They need a chance to manipulate different blocks, building structures, and using their imagination.

As students use the jumbo building blocks or the log builders, they are learning how items can fit together in different ways. Using the manipulative library, students are building motor skills, coordination, and constructing their own designs. As they manipulate the big bold set, they are improving motor skills.
