My Project
This proposal seeks funding to purchase a class set of the award-winning children’s novel "Flora and Ulysses" by Kate DiCamillo. This engaging, humor-filled book will serve as a central text for our literacy curriculum, focusing on developing students' understanding of figurative language, story elements, vocabulary, and reading comprehension through interactive and dynamic learning activities.
The objectives of this project are to enhance vocabulary and reading comprehension, teach figurative language, explore story elements, foster a love for reading, plan and execute dramatic readings, role play, and to perform a small selection.
"Flora and Ulysses" is an ideal choice for a class set due to its rich, accessible language and its ability to captivate young readers. The novel’s humorous and heartwarming story provides a perfect platform for teaching important literacy skills. Additionally, the interactive nature of the proposed activities aligns with best practices in education, ensuring that students are actively engaged and invested in their learning.
