This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our elementary school's Maker Space is dedicated to keeping projects fun and engaging while promoting entrepreneurship and real-world applications across all content areas. This project involves creating and designing mugs and metal tumblers using the sublimation process with a heat press machine. These creations will be integrated into various subjects, from math and ELA to science. The heat press machine and sublimation supplies will provide hands-on learning experiences that enhance students' understanding of STEAM concepts. By designing and creating their own mugs and tumblers, students will apply mathematical measurements, explore scientific principles of heat transfer, and develop artistic skills. This project will also foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, making learning more dynamic and memorable.
The goals for this project are to engage students in STEAM learning, promote entrepreneurship, and demonstrate real-world applications of classroom content.
We aim to foster creativity and innovation, providing a platform for students to express themselves through design and creation. Additionally, we hope to build community and school spirit by showcasing student creations at school events and local markets. Our students are part of a vibrant, urban neighborhood STEAM school facing dwindling funds. Despite financial challenges, they are incredibly resilient, curious, and eager to learn. They thrive on hands-on, project-based learning and are always excited to explore new ideas and technologies. This project will not only enrich their educational experience but also empower them to see themselves as creators and innovators.
