My Students

50% of our students in our school are English Language Learners, coming from 17 different countries and speaking 22 different languages! The students work hard to overcome the challenges they face in our low socioeconomic, urban community. Every day they come in with strong motivation to learn and excel.

We want to always encourage our students to appreciate the diversity of our school, be proud of their culture, and be open to learn about each other.

Every child in the school benefits, whether they were born in the United States or immigrated here.

My Project

Our class is an amazing cross-section of our world. Half of our class speaks English fluently and the other half of the students are at various levels of language development, having been born in many different countries. We celebrate our difference and always want to help each other.

Our teacher can read to us and explain topics, but we grow more when we listen to each other!
