My Students

One of the highlights of the fifth grade experience is graduation day, which is followed by Field Day. This year, I'd like to take our Field Day experience to the next level, by uniting our class 'with a thread'!

My students face so many challenges, but they realize that education is the vehicle to drive them towards a more promising future.

With so many issues, it is my mission as their educator to take them away and rescue them from their pressing worries through the joys of meaningful experiences and exposure to what life has to offer. Our school is 100% poverty, one of two such schools in the state of South Carolina. We don't take this rank as an excuse to have a pity party, but rather as a means of motivation. We strive to plant seeds of hope and reassure the students that education is the key that unlocks the doors of opportunity and future success. By understanding that there is more to life than what meets the eye, it is my belief that my students will do what it takes to beat the odds, defy the statistics and embrace the world of education and all it has to offer.

My Project

Championship winning and Health and Wellness guru, Coach Phil Jackson said it best, "The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team." I am so proud of our team! Our class motto is 'Teamwork Makes the Dream Work' and is posted for everyone to see each day they enter the classroom. I am requesting t-shirts for my entire class to wear on Field Day. We've read and studied Health and Wellness strategies all year long. They've applied what they have learned by staying active and moving during recess, even if it is indoors! I'd like to honor their hard work and efforts, by providing each of them with a cool class t-shirt.

Our Fifth Grade Field Day in the spring is a time to celebrate the hard work done throughout the school year.

Students will be honored to have these t-shirts and will be beaming with class and school pride. I can see them now, participating in the yard dashes, ball throws and so many other activities that keep our team physically fit! Thank you for making this dream idea come to life with your donation!
