My Students
My students are a diverse group of learners with a variety of needs. They bring many interests and skill levels to the classroom and I am constantly trying to innovate to make sure all learning needs are being met.
My school is located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and we are a public, unscreened school.
This means we do not discriminate or screen based on prior test scores or GPAs. My students are incredibly energetic, passionate and full of curiosity. I feel honored to get to work with them each day!
My Project
My high school students arrive with a variety of personalities, learning styles and needs. Sitting upright in plastic chairs all day is not the best way for all students to learn.
Through providing my students with flexible seating options such as wobble stools and poufs, and better lighting, I can better help them feel engaged, comfortable and at ease while learning.
I teach in an inclusion class, where many of my students battle ADHD, autism, dyslexia and emotional disturbance. Providing comfortable and happy spaces for them to learn is of utmost importance to me. However, the typical school furniture we are provided with does not account for all the learning and physical differences my students come to me with.
