My students are hands-on learners who are inquisitive about the world around them. We are transforming our classrooms to become more personalized learning classrooms where students develop the classroom culture with choice and voice. Personalized learning aims to develop the whole child and empower students to take ownership of their learning by providing them with multiple pathways to demonstrate mastery learning in order to be successful and productive 21st-century citizens in an ever-changing world.
Student engagement increases when students are provided an uncommon experience.
My students love to play games and complete challenges. They thrive in a classroom where learning is fun. They need more books! In order to attract and hold students attention, our classroom needs to be stocked full of books.
My Project
With so much emphasis on living a healthier lifestyle, being active and continuously moving for a cause would be a great way to jump on that bandwagon. My students need UNICEF Kid Power Bands to help encourage them to take a more active role in exercising their muscles. This unique power band is a pedometer designed for kids where they can set a daily step goal and compete with friends and family. I can personalize each band with the students' name and they can keep track of the time. With UNICEF Kid Power, students discover that their everyday activity – like moving and learning – can make a real-world impact. Students become more aware and engaged while learning critical skills that empower them to work together and become a generation of active global citizens.

Because of the UNICEF program, each step the students take, they are helping to unlock food packets for malnourished kids around the world. Once the students knew the importance of the power bands, they were all the more eager to receive one to not only be active themselves but to help out kids in need!
