Unfolding Latinx Legends: A Heritage Month Book Journey

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love how my students proudly embrace their Hispanic and Mexican heritage. Their stories, traditions, and language are a vital part of our classroom community, and I want to celebrate that through literature.

This project centers around three beautifully written and illustrated books that explores different aspects of Hispanic and Mexican culture—borders, bilingual identity, ocean conservation, storytelling, and traditional celebrations.

These stories provide windows and mirrors: windows into new perspectives and mirrors where students can see themselves and their families reflected with pride.

Through reading, discussion, and hands-on activities, students will deepen their understanding of heritage, language, and identity. This project will affirm their cultural roots while encouraging empathy and appreciation for the broader Hispanic community.
