My students need a cash register to help with the class store. They would also benefit from games that will help improve their financial literacy such as Monopoly and the game of Life.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from a high poverty area. Every day I see that these are very determined and intelligent students.
As a new teacher, I am still adding to my classroom.
My students run our classroom store. They earn class cash that allows them to purchase items from our store. A class register would be very beneficial and such a valuable tool to teach them the value of money as well as how to use a register. Many do not have opportunities like this, it would have such a positive impact on their life. By playing games such as a Monoploy and Life, it would give them real world experience. They would play these games in class and have fun while also learning about financial literacy. They will learn real life concepts such as savings and investments.
My Project
My students would benefit from this cash register because it will help them when they run our classroom store. Students earn class cash by good behavior and their salary from their classroom job. They then spend their money at our classroom store. My students would also benefit from these particular games because it allows them to understand money and enhance their financial literacy. They will enjoy learning about this in the form of a board game. My students will learn about the benefits of saving money and investing such as in the game Monolopy. The Game of Life as well as the others is also a great teaching tool.
