My Project

My name is Dillon Johns and I teach beginning 5th grade orchestra at 7 elementary schools. I love the concept of using technology to enhance the learning experience of all 200+ of my students. Music is an area that enhances all other classes of student takes. The purchase of an iPad will help the students continue to understand the correlation between music and math. The students at my school are excited and eager to learn in a wide variety of ways. After all, I work with a wide variety of students! Music, rhythmic, notation is based on mathematical relationships. A quarter note is simply 1/4 of a whole note.

Music offers a fun and interactive way for our students to reinforce these concepts of mathematical relationships while participating in a creative outlet.

Through both rhythmic exercises portrayed and composition programs on the iPad, students will be actively engaged in a process that reinforces the fraction concepts being taught within their math classes. This resource will offer the students the opportunity to create using the concepts that have been taught in a fun and exciting way!
