My Students

My classes of 130 6th grade students are from a very rural area in Pennsylvania. They are a wonderful group of sixth graders and embrace learning every single day. Our school is a Title I school and has a very high percentage of kids who receive free/reduced lunch. I do my best to provide them with worthwhile educational opportunities that engage them and allow them to grow academically and grow their character too. My students are very hardworking and have a strong desire for knowledge. We reach beyond the walls of our classroom to learn through technology to Skype, create projects, and go on virtual field trips. I'm so proud to be their teacher!

My Project

September 11th is a significant event in modern American history. I want my students to learn how this terrible attack changed our country and our world.

The book Eleven and Ten True Tales of 9/11 will be used in my 6th grade reading classes.

The book Eleven will take my students on a journey of heroism through a child's eyes. My students will learn to relate to children that went through such a profound experience. The book 10 True Tales: Heros of 9/11 will show my students how first responders, firefighters, police officers, and ordinary citizens were heroic on this fateful day. I know my students will form a new appreciation for first responders after reading these stories.

Our country pulled together to save many lives on September 11th and we are all changed in some way because of these attacks.
