Help me give my students climate change kits, a hands-on lab experience to discover how carbon dioxide interacts with the atmosphere to contribute to rising global temperatures from both natural and human resources.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school in Lehigh Acres, Florida, where financial assistance is given to serve the total population of students from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. Our students have a broad range of learning abilities, from language barriers to dual-enrolled students at the community college earning credits and still working toward completing the requirements for their high school diploma.
My Project
In this lab, students will learn about climate change and the contributing factors. Students will study different environmental conditions and their influence on the greenhouse effect. There is an investigation into how climate change can affect the uptake and sequestration of carbon dioxide. This lab also looks at how oceans act as a carbon sink.
Students explore how all greenhouse gas sources contribute to global climate change.
First they discover, through experimentation, how the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide interacts with the atmosphere to contribute to rising global temperatures. They also investigate the role of the ocean as a carbon sink and how climate change can affect the uptake and sequestration of carbon dioxide. In the final activity, students alter their simulated environments to determine how different environmental conditions influence the greenhouse effect.
