My Students

My class is an Advanced Studies Kindergarten class. We are a unique partial magnet program that serves the Title I school and surrounding rural areas. This program gives children from all cultures and incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive at higher levels.

Learning in my classroom is interactive, engaging, and fun!

Our lessons are taught using creative, hands-on activities and student-directed explorations in a safe, comfortable, and inclusive learning environment. I try to incorporate the students’ interests into the curriculum to make learning more meaningful for them. We offer the children a variety of opportunities to explore new ideas and be challenged with new experiences that engage budding readers, writers, scientists, mathematicians and artists.

Passion is the most important quality a teacher can bring to the classroom. Education in early childhood is an incredible journey, and I want my students to love coming to school everyday. My classroom is a safe place where the child’s imagination and creativity is valued and encouraged. In my class, we celebrate and honor childhood because it is the foundation for a person’s future development!

My Project

As I went through my classroom library at the end of last year, I realized how outdated and out of touch my books were. I need a new library. A library filled with books that will teach my students to value and celebrate diversity, as well as hitting on essential social emotional skills, such a self- regulation and reliance. My students are in desperate need of books that they can relate to, with characters that mirror their lives. Help me give them such a library. A library in which they can imagine and dream, learn and relate! Please assist me in giving my students the opportunity to learn through culturally relevant books and with some tools to support their education!
