My students attend a school which serves high poverty areas in Idaho. My students are the first group of students to participate in the first non-profit CrossFit school affiliate in Idaho. These students do not have many sports opportunities at our school and this class will provide the training that will enable them to compete in both local and national fitness competitions, specifically in the area of CrossFit. Students will develop mechanics, consistency, and intensity while using functional high skill movements.
Students in my Fitness/Biomechanics dual credit course are studying the way the body moves. The best way to learn biomechanics is to actively participate as well as watch others do those same movements.
In order to understand the full biomechanics of movement, my students need to have various methods of working through those movements.
A few sets of dumbbells will allow for other methods of studying their biomechanical movements during class.
I anticipate that my students will gain a greater understanding of their own fitness and improve upon their current understanding of biomechanical movement. This opportunity will allow my students to improve at their level.
