My Project
I love my students’ curiosity, resilience, and willingness to engage with challenging topics. They ask thoughtful questions, think critically about the world, and are eager to learn about history in ways that connect to their own experiences. They inspire me every day with their openness, creativity, and drive to make a difference.
Stamped from the Beginning: A Graphic History will help them learn by making complex historical ideas more accessible and engaging.
The graphic novel format is especially beneficial for visual learners and students who may struggle with traditional textbooks. It presents important historical events and ideas in a way that is easier to digest while still challenging students to think deeply about systemic racism and its impact on society.
This resource will also encourage meaningful discussions about race, justice, and equality, helping students develop critical thinking skills that go beyond the classroom. By exploring the history of racist ideas in America, they will better understand how these ideas shape our world today and how they can work toward a more just future.
Additionally, this book fosters empathy by presenting personal narratives and historical events in a visually compelling way. It will empower my students to see themselves as part of history, recognize their role in shaping the future, and become more informed, engaged citizens.
