This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a Reading Specialist at a low income school with over 1,000 students. My primary focus is finding gaps in a student's learning and teaching the student what they need to know in reading so they can become more successful in class.

Right now, I service 92 students.

These kids are so smart. They just need a little boost in their confidence and a strong foundation in their learning. They want to be successful and learn. They have really made an impact on my teaching.

My Project

My students will use Osmo and the Fire Tablets during small groups. Right now, we struggle with having enough supplies for everyone in each group. We are also using so much paper and are running out of whiteboard markers.

Our tablets and Osmo would help us learn in a fun way, and it would allow everyone in the group to be successful.

We would be able to read stories together, work on building words, work on spelling, and have hands-on practice with reading.

Most of my students learn in unconventional ways already, so adding a tablet will help increase their ability in reading and writing.
