Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is just reopening after being closed for six years. The parents and community are very excited to see their home school opening again. Our vision is that all students reach high levels of achievement in a rigorous academic program. We will provide opportunites to learn in a bilingual, multicultural, and collaborative environment.
The students in my kindergarten classroom are just beginning their journey to learn to speak, read, and write in two languages.
They are enrolled in the Two-Way Dual Immersion Program and are excited to be learning Spanish. My students come from very diverse backgrounds and have come together with the purpose of learning from each other.
My Project
My students will use the globe in our study of animals around the world. The gears, tinker toys, marble run, and IQ builder will be put in our creation center to give students more opportunities and materials to build, create and engineer. The Rekenrek materials, dot cards, number bond magnets, cubes, pattern blocks, and math games will all be used for number talks and centers.
The basic classroom supplies will help us continue to read, write, observe, and grow as learners.
We will use the pencils, crayons, and pencil boxes in our everyday work. The magnets, clipboards, and tins will help organize and display our work. The jump ropes and scarves will be used to enhance our physical education.
