This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember back in high school and college during the spring and summer time you got the Frisbees out and started playing with a bunch of friends. Groups of people would always gather to play, both boys and girls. Think about when you were at the beach playing all day long.
Well, I want to bring those fun times to my school.
Many of our kids have never played with Frisbees. We have some Frisbees now we need some goals. Our school is located in the heart of a large metropolitan city. The setting is a culturally diverse school with students from over 20 countries. They speak over 15 different languages. We serve over 210 kids. The majority of our population has lived in the US less than 2 years. Many of them have been here for only a few months, and some of our kids have not been in a formal educational setting before, let alone a PE class, so they are fortunate and will get to experience a quality physical education program at our school.
My Project
I know you remember the fun times you had gathering around the Frisbee circle at the beach, BBQ'S or school and enjoying your friends and family. Most of us played the game. It is fun, easy to play, and builds friendships. It is an easy game to play anywhere. The little Frisbee fits in your car and can be taken anywhere, now all we need is to get Frisbees and 2 Frisbee catchers to throw at. It is a non traditional game that I want our students to experience.
Robinson Family Foundation is a sponsor of projects that are from Washington state.
They are willing to match 50% of the cost. So, Please help us, help our non American born students develop the passion for PE and lifetime fitness. Help them experience some of the joyful activities as you did when you were young. Your donation will be greatly appreciated.
