The students were really excited for a different hands-on activity after a week of experiments surveying chemical reaction types.\r\n\r\nLast week, we had a contest in each chemistry class for each group to build as many amino acids as they could from two types of 2D molecule representations -- it was a great chance for students in the summer school biology class to review what they've learned, and an opportunity for all chemistry students to review bonding and molecule diagrams before we continue with intermediate topics.\r\n\r\nMyself and other biology teachers will make more use of these kits during second semester and our summer school next year. They are a great resource to have on hand, particularly to support abstract thinking and translation between 2D and 3D representations.
