The school I teach at is quite special, as we are the first Expeditionary Learning School in our state! This learning model is more hands-on, more real world, and more student-led. We focus on academics and character building. It is an exciting model that we're all quite proud to be a part of!
I may be biased, but my students are the best in the world!
They are curious, exciting, musical, thoughtful, loving, and all-around good kids. They come from various backgrounds and homes, but we work together so well. We are a crew through and through!
Students absolutely love coming to music class! I see each class every three days and they make sure to tell me in the hallway, "We have music today, Ms. Ashley" with the most excited look on their faces. It's an amazing feeling to see them enjoy the art of music so much.
My Project
Learning to play an instrument is one of the greatest joys in life. Playing an instrument is something that you can take with you for all of your lifetime. Our students learn to play many different instruments over the course of their time in our school however one of their favorites to learn is the ukulele!
To properly learn to play the Ukulele, one needs to put in a lot of practice!
Currently, our school only has 27 ukuleles while we have over 60 students in 5th grade. Due to the limited number of ukuleles, I am not able to send ukuleles home with students to practice. In order to help our students practice more and become better players, we would love to have a full grade set of ukuleles!
