My Students

My students come from a diverse population in our urban area. There are many native languages spoken at home and varying levels of income.

Music is the way to get my students excited about learning.

My students are naturally curious about life and the world but need more to become balance learners.

My Project

Most children learn best through hands-on experiences. I would like to incorporate music into all of the major units I teach throughout the year to make them more engaging and successful.

Ukuleles will give students the confidence and skills that they need as they begin their musical journey in elementary school.

Many songs as well as folk music from all around the world use simple chord progressions, which my kindergarten students will learn to play on these ukuleles. For many of these children, this may be their only opportunity to play a string instrument due to personal financial limitations. We are excited to start our ukulele adventure!
