My students need 14 ukuleles in order to have a 1:1 student/instrument ratio, ukulele strings and 5 keyboard stands to support the instruments we already have.
My students are often jumping with excitement to be in music class because they know they will be fully engaged in exciting and meaningful work with drums, auxiliary percussion, keyboards, ukuleles, guitars, and more! Involvement in my music classroom includes listening, singing, playing instruments, and dancing. We are never in one place for long.

My Project
"My Dog Has Fleas!" "Gotta Catch 'Em All." "G, C, E, A." These are little tunes musicians use to play the ukulele and learn the name and sounds of each string.
With this Donors Choose project, I'm bringing the sound of ukulele to the upper elementary and middle school music classroom.
Money donated will increase the number of ukulele instruments so that each student will be able to play their own instrument, without sharing. Students will learn the instrument basics like names of parts and strings, tuning, chords and of course, awesome songs like "We Will Rock You," and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."
In addition to the 14 ukuleles, I'm ordering strings because my existing instruments need some care. My classroom also has electronic keyboards, but no keyboard stands to support them. These additions will especially aid upper elementary and middle school Modern Band curricula.
