My students need to start their string playing with these 11 Ukeleles. For little hands (K-2) the guitars have been too big these ukeleles would be perfect and so fun!

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Did you know that John Lennon played the ukulele before the guitar? My students love to sing and learn new songs! But above all my students love to learn new instruments! We play recorders, xylophones, drums and other percussion instruments, 3rd to 5th grade students are learning to play the guitar.
I teach to at an elementary school in South Brooklyn and all my students love music!!!
When we put on the right song they don't have to think of their struggles at home or in their classrooms "upstairs". We put our energies into the music. Music is so healing for everyone and my students are no exception. Many of my students are English Language Learners and learning to read songs and analyze lyrics has been great for their language acquisition. However, the favorite thing my students like to do in music class is play and learn new instruments!
My Project
Top 2 reasons elementary music students should learn the ukulele.
#1. Benefits of Ukulele Lessons: Easy to Learn
Ukulele only has 4 strings making it very easy to learn. Because ukulele is easy to learn, it's also a great choice for kids who want to play guitar. Ukulele is guitar's smaller and easier to play cousin. Once kids get the basics down on ukulele, it's easy to graduate to guitar later on. Reading ukulele tab is the same as reading guitar tab, and ukulele can be played either with your thumb or with a guitar pick.
#2. Playing the Ukulele Develops Coordination
One of the benefits of ukulele lessons is ukulele teaches kids hand eye coordination and improves their fine motor skills. Kids who take ukulele lessons will learn how to independently move their fingers, coordinate rhythm, and read ukulele tab. They'll also learn how to play fun songs from start to finish that use chords, and basic rhythms. These skills are vital to anyone who wants to progress to other instruments.
Let my students walk in the footsteps of John Lennon and other musicians such as progressing Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Dick Dale who started on ukulele before progressing to guitar.
A great benefit of taking ukulele lessons, is that the ukulele is a simple instrument. It's much simpler to understand and play than guitar, piano, or drums.
I know my students will have fun and gain confidence in their music abilities by playing the ukulele! Thank you for supporting the arts in schools
