Our scholars are talented musicians who enjoy playing their instruments. Our 4th and 5th-grade students participate in a district-wide curriculum centered around learning music notation through instrument playing. Our students learn to play Ukulele as a pre-cursor to the Band, Orchestra, Guitar, and Harp programs. Our district supports these programs by providing class-set instruments for young musicians to play.
Our school is tight on space, and we currently do not have a dedicated music classroom.
We operate music classes either in their homeroom classroom or in the school's auditorium. Currently, our ukuleles are stored in cardboard boxes behind the curtain of our auditorium's stage. In other schools, music educators have wall space to mount hangers for their ukuleles to rest. Unfortunately, I cannot mount hangers in every 4th and 5th-grade classroom for each student to house their ukulele. Ukuleles are delicate instruments that need to be stored properly so our young musicians have quality instruments that will last long after they graduate!
Because their learning environment is transient, having a mobile cart to properly store our ukuleles would not only ensure their longevity in care but also gift my students the structured and accessible learning routine they so deeply require to excel in their music journey! Please consider donating to our project; our musicians (and their teachers) will be grateful for your generosity!
