My Students
My students inspire me each day with their fierce zest for life and their dedication to their family and friends. They are curious, creative, and come to life with hands-on activities. They want lessons to feel real, and meaningful - not abstract or theoretical.
Playing the ukulele is a fun and easy way for students to express their creativity and learn the value of studying the arts.
In NYC schools, students unfortunately receive minimal exposure to music. It is not a required offering, so not every school even has a music department. By supporting this project, you can help my students experience the joy of learning a musical instrument.
My Project
The top complaint I hear from students about course offerings at our school is about a lack of interesting electives. As a small school, we struggle to offer many electives beyond those required for graduation.
There is nothing I would love more than to start a Ukulele Class for my students.
I keep my own guitar and ukulele in my classroom and have seen many of my students absolutely light up when I place the instrument in their hands. You can't be unhappy when you're playing a ukulele! Not only is a ukulele relatively inexpensive, but after learning a few simple chord progressions my students will be ready to rock!
This set of ukuleles is an investment that will impact my students for many years to come. By donating, you will be creating the first ever Ukulele Music Class at my school and providing my students with the opportunity to express themselves through a beautiful musical instrument.
