Help me give my students a field trip to Washington D.C. to explore the nation's capital and expand their understanding of United States History!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
UAI is an all-girls, public high school in Brooklyn, NY. As a school that predominantly serves young women of color, we strive to empower our students to gain the capacity, skills, and confidence required to succeed in the STEM fields.
In my US History classroom, students experience history through the investigation of primary sources and peer discussions.
As a result, students confidently interrogate historical events and their connections to societal issues/events in 2018. Recognizing this connection, students are empowered to make a change in their local communities. The senior classes are currently working on projects to combat domestic violence against immigrants, gentrification in Brooklyn, and the funding of public schools in NYC. UAI students are passionate about social justice and strive to make the world a better place.
My Project
Please help the 11th graders at UAI fundraise for their trip to Washington D.C.! We were astounded by the level of support we received for our first project so we want to continue to help offset the cost of the trip for our students and provide more scholarships with this fundraiser. We will visit Arlington National Cemetery, various war memorials and monuments, the U.S. Capitol, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and are working to set up a meeting with our House Representative or Senator.
As predominately young women of color, my students often feel underrepresented in the US government.
By traveling to Washington D.C., our nation's capital, students will not only expand their understanding of U.S. History but will be inspired to engage as active citizens and advocate for their local communities.
Please help my students offset the cost of this trip! Many students cannot afford this trip on their own, please help make this opportunity possible for them and donate whatever you can!
