My students need keyboards to use with our school iPads, as well as new headsets to use with our iPads.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Braley's classroom raised $701
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students attend school in Los Angeles, California. We serve a variety of students in grades TK-5th. We are a Title 1 school, which means many students at our school qualify for free or reduced lunch. My students are from many diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and are always eager to learn!
We are environmental activists!
Alongside learning to read and write, we learn about the world around us and how we can preserve the beauty of our environment on a daily basis. We love to work together and engage in many hands on activities that make learning come to life every day in our classroom. Most of all, we believe in ourselves!
My Project
Our students use iPads for many projects and learning experiences. With these keyboards, students as young as kindergarten will be able to experience the process of typing. With so much current touch screen technology, students often have trouble when it comes to keyboarding skills. With these keyboards students will become familiar with keyboarding at an early age. This will also help to prepare them for state testing when they get to the upper grades and often use a computer and a keyboard for this process. These keyboards will be available for students in 4 different classrooms to use, as we all share the iPads. They will benefit more than one classroom of students.
Students in my classroom often make projects on iPads.
Last year my 1st grade students made a Keynote project explaining how we could conserve more water at our school. Using keyboards during this process will allow students to become more familiar with and prepared to use the technology that will be required of them in upper grades. It will also give primary teachers a chance to directly instruct students on how to use a keyboard and how to type more efficiently, greatly preparing them for using these materials in the upper grades and helping them to succeed.
The headsets will be used to replace many of our current headsets that no longer provide students with sound. When using iPads as during an academic center, the headphones provide a quiet working environment both for the student using the iPad and for the other students around them.
