Help me give my students back their confidence by using the Chromebooks' technology as a friendly aid to support their Reading Comprehension & Writing needs.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students all struggle with AT LEAST one type of learning disability including dyslexia, ADHD, as well as other speech and hearing processing related disorders. Our unique school is located on a University Campus where students receive an individually student paced education targeting their specific deficits. My students are very intelligent, however they primarily struggle with reading and writing. My students would greatly benefit by having Chromebooks available to them in the classroom throughout the day.
I desperately need Chromebooks to help my students be able to achieve the levels of success they are truly capable of through technology based programs.
The students are so creative and highly capable of expressing themselves verbally. However, this technology will assist them in achieving each of their individual reading/written expression needs with confidence!
The use of this technology and programs such as typing tutorial, as well as other education based programs would change these students' lives and put them on an even playing field! The use of these Chromebooks would allow my students access to a variety of tools that will increase their knowledge in so many ways including reaching future goals.
My Project
By attaining these Chromebooks, I can give my students endless opportunities to work toward a brighter future. Technology is the future for our students, specifically, the population I work with.
While tasks such as reading and writing can be extremely difficult for students with learning disabilities, this technology could make such a difference in their everyday learning experiences.
I hope to be able to utilize these Chromebooks in numerous ways such as typing tutorial programs for those who struggle in writing, remediation programs for my students who struggle with reading and reading comprehension, and overall make use of any and all positive educational experiences out there.
At our small charter school, we teach 'the whole child.' My students are so talented and have had many roadblocks in their short lived learning period. I hope to be able to knock over some of these learning barriers with the use of the technology these Chromebooks could give them.
