Ms. Harris from Saint Louis MO is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need modern technology in the classroom, such as these 2 netbooks. We will use these tools to conduct research, compose essays, presentations, spreadsheets, and more.

Do you remember the first time you typed an essay or organized a presentation? For many urban students, they do not have this experience until college--if they reach higher education. I do not want this to be my students. It is necessary to be exposed to such technology prior to college!
This year, I teach nearly 160 students in an urban school district.
99% of my students are members of a working class, with low socioeconomic status. My students are underprivileged. Most of my students have been denied an adequate education for years. This does not mean my students do not have potential to succeed. This means they, simply, haven't been given the outlet to do so thus far in their educational career. I want to change that.
I am requesting two netbooks. With these netbooks, we will be able to further our curriculum, conducting online research, typing essays, creating presentations, spreadsheets, and more. Technology will become an integral part of our classroom. My students will be exposed to technology in a manner which will prepare them for high school and higher education, as well as expose them to additional concepts and entities necessary to become a well-rounded student and citizen.
By incorporating technology into the classroom, I will be able to provide my students with an education that will not only teach them academic content, but prepare them to enter high school and higher education on a competitive scale.
There is an abundance of academic lessons, activities, and projects which can be done to further educate my students. Yet, technology is a necessity. My students deserve an education which will prepare them to compete against the best in our country.
