My students need 10 bluetooth keyboards (iPad compatible) for typing essays, editing peer work, and creating presentations instead of typing on the screen.
A fulfilling life is one rich with challenges. This is how we reach our greatest potential. My curriculum is filled with opportunities to challenge all achievement groups, collaborate and designed to develop independent learners.
I am at a school with the ultimate educational setting.
The environment of the campus is ever- improving. As a graduate of this school, I am proud of the learning environment and support for students. The programs implemented in the last ten years has truly changed the culture. Lawn areas have been transformed into edible gardens, complete with an amphitheater and stage. Homework Lab and Small Learning Communities are in place to ensure no students progress or lack of progress is unseen. Clusters for juniors and seniors direct students pathways aiding in post secondary exploration. The possibilities for faculty and students are endless. I am proud to be part of this phenomenal school and community.
Casa Grande is a very diverse school, students understand expectations and can thrive if open to opportunities provided.
My Project
The mastery of their smart phones created a mass assumption that students are proficient in all areas of software, creating websites, simply adding an attachment to an email and able to type with more than two fingers. However, students are less tech-savvy than we believe, the extent of their mastery ends at their smart phone. In our district, each student will receive an iPad in the fall without a keyboard. Last week, I watched students type an essay on chrome books and was once again astounded as I watched students using two fingers type. Although technology has enhanced the workplace in many ways, there is still so much value in being able to type efficiently and effectively. The job market is very competitive and I do not believe students should become accustomed to speaking into their device to complete their essay. Students will need a keyboard in my classroom to produce reports, presentations, and letters to the community.
Any donations will help my dream classroom environment come true!
My goal is to provide an environment that challenges and provides opportunities for students to become well- rounded before they enter the workforce or higher education. Typing is a valuable skill that should remain a priority in the classroom. Hard work and versatility will always be valued in the workplace and as educators we must learn how to integrate technology.
