Each morning, students know that they can grab a snack before settling in, and that simple routine has made a noticeable difference. I've seen students arrive more regulated, more focused, and more willing to engage in learning. One morning, a student casually said, \"I can think better when I'm not hungry,\" and then sat down and completed the work that they normally struggle to start. Moments like these show just how important this support has become. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the snacks, their reactions were immediate and enuine. There were smiles, thank-yous, and a lot of excitement. Several students asked where the snacks came from and wanted to know who helped make it happen. For many of them, having consistent access to food at school communicates care and stability, which is especially important in a therapeutic setting. The snacks quickly became part of our daily routine - and part of what helps our classroom feel grounded and supported. \r\n\r\nAs we continue working through lessons and projects that require sustained focus and collaboration, the snacks help students stay engaged and ready to learn. We are already noticing that our supply is running low, which really highlights how many students rely on this support each day. The impact has been real and immediate, and these snacks continue to play an important role in helping our students show up each day ready to learn, participate, and grow.","fullyFundedDate":1758832172040,"projectUrl":"project/nourish-to-flourish-snack-support-for/9753309/","projectTitle":"Nourish to Flourish - Snack Support for Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shawn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10276559"},{"teacherId":4414642,"projectId":9405202,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donation of a large-screen microscope to our high school counseling-enriched program. Students have been using it not only for formal biology curriculum, but for other classes as well including health (looking at food items) as well. We have been using it to find things to observe in our textbooks to bring more direct experience and hands-on exploration to the paper-based curriculum and provide the kinds of lab experiences that general education students at our school get. \r\n\r\nStudents were surprised and excited to have access to a microscope that is so easy to use! Several of them shared that they had previously struggled with traditional microscopes--one said that she had drawn a reflection of her own retina instead of the sample she was supposed to be recording using the \"look into the tube\" style. \r\n\r\nOver the next term, we will move from ecosystems (observing water samples from around our community) to understanding how organisms are classified (identifying cell types, tissues and structures), ending with the human body and understanding genetics (not sure yet how we will use a microscope for this...). \r\n\r\nThank you again from all of us!","fullyFundedDate":1753777332702,"projectUrl":"project/micro-worlds-await/9405202/","projectTitle":"Micro Worlds Await!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kirk","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4414642_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1512759727007","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-mandykirk"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5153","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1631,"numTeachers":74,"percentFrplEligible":45,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":39,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":47,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"22.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":79.0,"schoolId":5153,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Casa Grande High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Casa Grande High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/petaluma-city-schools/casa-grande-high-school/5153"}
