My Students
Our students mostly come from socio-economically disadvantaged homes. We have approximately 80% of our students free and reduced price lunch.
In my class, we work hard to develop a growth mindset and learn that we can do anything we want to if we put our minds to it.
Our motto is "There is no elevator to success; we have to take the stairs!"
Helping students overcome generational poverty is a huge goal that I hope I can help my students achieve.
My Project
I am hoping to have a classroom subscription to tynker.com. My students do not always have the opportunity to use technology in a way that shows them the value beyond the school day or games. I'd like them to experience the potential that technology offers to them and their futures.
Giving my students opportunities to experience STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in their school day is crucial to their future in our technological world.
The Tynker program is a way for students to begin to develop a more complete picture of our digital world and how they can impact it.
Tynker is an online platform that teaches students how to code through the activities they already love: games and stories. Students learn the fundamentals of programming and design through Tynker's intuitive visual programming language without the frustrations of traditional syntax.
I believe Tynker will provide my students with a solid foundation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) thinking abilities to prepare them for 21st century careers.
