Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach Spanish at a Title I high school in the Los Angeles Area. More than 70% of the student population qualify for free lunch. My students enjoy learning Spanish through different sources besides the textbook. They enjoy the different technology applications that we use in class.
My Project
This Pandemic has brought with it many changes for everyone. One of the biggest changes is the way I deliver instruction. When schools closed back in March of 2020, I left campus with a laptop and my textbook. Never did I imagine that two weeks would turn into one year, and still not sure when I'm going to be able to go back and teach my students in person. As a teacher, it is difficult to teach the class while at the same time I try to monitor the students and engage them using my laptop screen only. A lot is going on during class, especially when I try to have the students interact when I'm presenting the content. An additional screen will help me see all of my students faces and it will also allow them to see the screen better since it shrinks during zoom meetings because have to use the other half to see them. To me, it is important to monitor my students and to make sure they are participating, a second screen will definitely help me accomplish that.
