This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are diverse learners who come from low-income families. The students I work with are of Hispanic and African-American descent and come eager to learn and master new skills everyday. The students I provide services for come from diverse backgrounds with various academic and social-emotional needs. I have had the opportunity to work with these students for many years and have seen how much they have grown academically and socially.
My goal has always been to create a classroom where students feel important, encouraged, cared for, and excited about learning!
My Project
My students have not skipped a beat since we began distance learning in March. They have adapted and shown how much they want to learn each and everyday. I’ve never been more proud of them! During our meets, I am introducing materials and skills virtually which is difficult with only one screen to see the students and present simultaneously.
During any given lesson, I have multiple tabs and windows open to make lessons as engaging and fluid as possible.
A second screen would allow me to display lessons on one, while interacting on the other. A second screen would be so helpful as we continue to engage in distance learning.
