Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Accountability allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they choose an activity from a box location that works for them. Making sure students are organized is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given the opportunity to chose the appropriate activities during small group/ independent work times. They almost always make good choices about which activity is on their level and are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just looking for various pieces. All of the materials would be color coded and in one location.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work with the organized materials they need to be successful.
The products that I have selected will help my students by more organized and make more effective learning choices. The 2 drawer file cabinet are will allow students access to one subject area of activities at a time. This will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to have a set place to go everyday when it’s time for intervention.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
