Twist on Scientific Vocabulary

Help me give my students tools to understand and remember scientific words. The flash cards with the rings will be used to write and study prefixes, root words, and suffixes and their meanings. The markers write the them.

My Project

The use of scientific words often intimidate students of all ages. Using the cards to write, study, and make words in activities in class with allow them to find words that they don't know the meanings into words that make sense. This will also help when they take all kinds of tests in the future. As long as they can understand the vocabulary they should be able to understand what the question is asking them.

The students will have access to the cards during activities, practice the meanings, and using the prefixes and suffixes with root words to make the word, after giving them the definition, opposite of regular vocabulary testing.

These kind of activities will help to remember the words or prefixes, root words, and suffixes, so that they will use the words correctly. This will help not only in taking science tests, but taking notes, and other activities that students will need to understand and know the meanings and spelling of scientific words. The cards on the rings will help students keep track of the prefixes, root words, and suffixes, so that they can use them during activities both vocabulary and science type activities.

Students will also be using the hole reinforcements and the markers to put the words on the cards. The reinforcement stickers are to be used when one of the holes on the flash cards, start to rip away from the ring. This will help them when doing activities special for science classes to know and be familiar with the prefixes and suffixes, where the meaning can be determined from them.
