This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
WHAHM is a place for students to develop in all ways possible. They are challenged to think critically and work together. This project aims to allow students the opportunity to take charge in an initiative that provides our school community to engage in a sustainable way to shop. Thrifting is one way we can all help our planet. Rehoming lightly used clothing keeps clothes away from landfills. Most clothing is made from a synthetic material that won’t degrade. Thrift shopping is good for the environment and it’s the easiest way to reduce carbon pollution. A lot of time and energy goes into producing and shipping new clothes; many resources are wasted as well. Finally, who doesn’t love a good deal? When you shop at thrift stores, you’re getting more for less. The items on this account will help us kick-start our very own student lead thrift store. Students will learn math, advertising, and marketing through shopping experiences.
