My Students

I bet my classroom computers are the same ones that I had when I was in kindergarten! I graduated kindergarten in 1992, so you can do the math. I have 4 computers in my room just taking up space because they do not work, not connected to the Internet, and take 10 minutes to open a program.

My students are kindergarten students with multiple levels of educational experiences.

They are visual learners. I have students reading and comprehending at a second grade level, students reading basic sight words, and students not able to identify numbers or letters. Forty-three percent of students receive free or reduced price lunch in my building.

My Project

By receiving the tablet, my students will have the ability to practice a variety of skills. Some examples include reading and listening to books independently, practice identifying numbers and letters independently, and exploring educational resources via Internet and applications. The tablet will allow my students to have a more individualized education. With the resource I will receive with this project, my students will be prepared to move on to first grade.

Our children are living in the twenty-first century and learn differently.

They are digital learners and this tablet will help them become more engaged in their learning and direct their own learning through technology.
