My Project

Our project at Harbour Pointe is a unique initiative aimed at empowering students with autism while fostering a sense of responsibility and inclusion within our school community. Through our daily water delivery program, students have the opportunity to develop essential life skills while making a meaningful contribution to our school environment.

Each day, our students fill reusable water bottles and deliver them to teachers who have requested this service.

This simple yet impactful task teaches them important skills such as counting, understanding when a bottle is full, identifying delivery locations, practicing quiet behavior, and responsibly loading the dishwasher with used bottles. Moreover, by engaging in this routine, our students gain a sense of purpose and recognition as valued members of our school community.

It's important to note that all our students have significant challenges due to their autism and require alternative educational settings. By participating in this project, they not only engage in a task they enjoy – handling water – but also receive valuable opportunities for learning in a supportive environment. Through tasks such as walking up and down stairs, opening doors, picking items up, and setting items down, they practice essential motor and life skills in a meaningful context, enhancing their overall development.

Your support for our project will not only provide new water bottles but also contribute to the ongoing growth and success of our students with autism.
