My students bring joy to my life every day. Every student that I work with has been identified with a disability and learning can be difficult for them. Many of them have been diagnosed with ADHD and I enjoy finding fun and creative ways to make learning more engaging for each of my students.
I teach a variety of middle school classes and all of my students come with different abilities, strengths, and interests.
Some are visual learners, some are auditory learners, and many of them are hands-on learners. Many of my students are very hard workers but often require extra small group and one-on-one attention to help the light bulbs come on.
My Project
I teach self-contained special education classes, but my classroom lacks a small group table where I can work with students. This kidney table would help make it easier for my students to benefit from one-on-one instruction.
Many of my students work very hard but require the extra support and repetition that can be provided by being able to work at a small group table.
This gives students a chance to increase their confidence as they improve their skills. When students feel confident they are often able to achieve far more, eventually working independently. In order for my students to be successful, I have to find ways to help them learn skills well enough to complete work independently.
