This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine sitting in a classroom that brings the textbook to life? The way my students learn can change because of your contributions! Students will be able to act out events in history, learn how to edit, and show what they have learned in a new exciting way!

I am the proud teacher of 21 energetic third graders!

These kids amaze me everyday with their drive for learning and creativity. My campus is a Title 1 school. This means that most of the students I serve are from low socioeconomic environments that face many challenges. In spite of these challenges, my students strive to learn new concepts daily and show a love for learning. My school serves over 800 students and 85 percent are on free/reduced lunch. We also have a large number of refugees that attend our school. Most of my students face academic challenges due to their backgrounds and home lives. Among these challenges are dyslexia, slow-learners, learning disabilities, and language. However, I also have students who are on and above grade-level that would benefit from this type of enrichment activity. I am determined to meet the needs of ALL my students.

My Project

As many of you know, teachers compete with video games, computers, and many other technology devices. Using technology to teach in the classroom will give my students endless possibilities and opportunities to extend their learning. Movie making is one way to do this. Writing scripts and working together to display our knowledge in a creative way are both benefits of movie-making in the classroom. We use the movie-making process to help us understand, reinforce, and review new concepts we are learning in different areas of the curriculum. We also make creative movies to enhance our ability to write interesting stories. Green screen is a fun and exciting way to create movies. When recording with green screen students can report from outer space or on top of the Empire State Building. Imagination and creativity are at its highest form when creating with green screen.

Your donation will impact and make a difference in the lives of my students.

Making movies will build community among my students, hone in on their writing skills, engage their creative imaginations, and instill confidence even in those students who might have been afraid to be in front of the camera. Movie-making is an exciting way to make learning come alive in the classroom!
