Being a 9th grader is already difficult as it is. Then here comes mother nature, unannounced. As the 9th grade team lead, with over 100 young ladies who come from low- income families, I have noticed how this time of the month, without the proper accessibility to items, can become a barrier that hinders a child's education. Many students are caught without sanitary pads or tampons. They are wondering the halls going from one female teacher to another asking for assistance with finding a sanitary napkin. Some are even afraid to ask their peers for help.
Easy access to hygiene essentials are needed to take the embarrassment out of being unprepared for their monthly cycles.
With your donations I will be adding sanitary pads and tampon dispensers into two restroom stalls located on the 9th grade hall; I will be giving access to sanitary napkins, tampons, and wipes to any one of my students who may need it.
Having easy access to sanitary napkins will allow our girls to put more focus on their education instead of "turning red".
Nearly all students from low‑income households
