My Project
I’m seeking support to provide my third grade students with a class set of The World According to Humphrey by Betty G. Birney. This charming, humorous story of a classroom hamster named Humphrey will engage my students and inspire a love of reading. With your help, we can bring this delightful book to life in our classroom, sparking conversations, imagination, and a deeper connection to reading.
The World According to Humphrey is perfect for third graders—it’s fun, easy to read, and teaches important lessons about empathy, responsibility, and friendship.
Having a class set will allow us to read together, discuss the story, and build critical thinking and vocabulary skills. This novel will also encourage reluctant readers to join in, making reading feel like an exciting adventure.
We will have enough copies of The World According to Humphrey for every student to participate in our class reading sessions. The book will be used for group discussions, independent reading, and as a springboard for creative writing activities. I am also asking for enough notebooks for each student for our writing, vocabulary, and reading lessons.
Your support will help my students develop a lifelong love of reading and provide them with a shared experience they’ll never forget. Thank you for helping us bring The World According to Humphrey into our classroom!
