My students are a lively group that love to learn. They love project based learning and anything hands on. They do not come from a community with a lot of monetary resources.
Resources enable my students to realize their imagination and ingenuity as they find ways to give back to their community.
When my students actually see their projects come to life they become elated. This project will be a huge benefit for local community members as they are able to gain access to local Native Hawaiian cultural knowledge and innovations.
My Project
These materials are designed to harness the creativity of my students in solving real world issues. They will be able to take every day items and create masterpieces. The goal of this project is to recycle and re-purpose beach waste to create something beautiful in the form of jewelry.
"Turning" trash that has been washed up on our beaches into treasure will help to restore beauty for our local communities on a whole new level.
Students will have the opportunity to learn a new skill in jewelry making as well as exploring their creativity as they create works of art from rubbish.
