My students cannot be seen in the front stage area (apron), therefore they need light to perform.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 190+ 6th, 7th & 8th grade theatre students in a Title I school district where many are minority and from a low-income household. Although they struggle at times to succeed, my students are creative hard workers who deserve the chance to experience a rigorous learning environment.
Each student contributes elements of design in setting, lights, sound, makeup, costumes, and props. This allows students of all learning types to play a role in the creative process of a theatrical production. Our last production was attended by many parents and people from the immediate community. Almost everyone who congratulated the students and I on such a wonderful show, complained about the lighting: how they couldn't see the show at one time or another.
In "LIGHT" of all of the budget cuts, asking for this problem to be fixed seems to be considered a luxury. However, every semester I make a request for more lighting. The lighting system I have chosen will allow students to hang, focus, and control lights for our shows. Therefore, your donation will make it possible for my theatre students to light up their stage designs and bring our productions to life.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
